Markets for Explosive Products

Explosives from Hercules Works were used commercially for mining, construction and agriculture; for civil ammunition; and for the military. Commercial markets were far larger than military contracts. Hercules Powder Company became a large specialty chemical firm, constantly responding to changes in its markets and taking advantage of innovations in chemical technology.
